Our Story and Mission
What is a Hathiphant? I grew up in a bilingual household, having moved to San Diego from India at the age of one. Hathi means "elephant" in Hindi, my native language. As a toddler learning both Hindi and English, I combined my words for my favorite animal into one - "Hathiphant."

Hathiphant Speech-Language Therapy was born from my desire to provide culturally informed and affirming services for all families. Based on a 2021 demographics report issued by ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association), fewer than 10% of licensed speech therapists and audiologists identify as non-white. However, the families we serve are ethnically and culturally diverse and deserve to have providers who honor their values, language, and customs. At Hathiphant, our goal is to learn together and to always make sure that our therapy program aligns with your family's priorities and values.
